On 5th July, students worldwide received their results for the Diploma Programme (DP) May 2024 examination sessions, marking the completion of their DP and their time in formal schooling.
This year, our Renaissance International School Saigon Class of 2024 achieved an average score of 35 points, an impressive 5 points higher than the world average of 30 points. Notably, 27% of 20 Diploma-awarded students scored 40 points or higher, with two students scoring 41 and a further two students 42 points.
Students, parents, teaching faculty and school leadership are thrilled with these notable student outcomes. Mr Mark Sayer, Head of School, said of these results: “These are very special results. It is wonderful that the leadership team, teaching faculty and students have worked so effectively together, and to bring about these performances that enhance their life-chances longer term.”
It’s remarkable that this year’s results are the highest IB Diploma points score in our school’s history. Since the first IB DP results in 2011, our results have fluctuated but have always remained above 30, and never falling below the world average. During the challenging Covid period and a few years after, the score slightly dropped, reaching 32 in 2023. This year, it peaked at 35 points, the highest in our history, last achieved in 2018. We are so proud of the great team spirit of the cohort of 2024 and their achievements to bring this result back to Renaissance. These well-deserved results represent a great platform to motivate and support our 2024-25 Diploma students. It is a great way to launch our academic campaign for even greater achievements ahead.
Mr. Andy Roberts, Head of Secondary at Renaissance, said: “This outstanding achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, as well as the immense support and guidance provided by our teaching faculty. My heartfelt congratulations to our Diploma students for this impressive performance.”
Ms. Kathryn Holland, the IBDP Coordinator, added: “This year has produced a very pleasing set of results, testament to the collective teacher effectiveness in supporting our students. As a faculty, we can be proud of the results overall and especially proud of the accuracy of predictions. There have been no nasty surprises for anyone in these results and a few pleasant surprises, which is great. This cohort hasn’t always made it easy, but we can see that all our efforts have paid off.”
The IB Diploma offers students excellent university preparation and lifelong opportunities. Respected by top universities, it develops the whole student, aiding their physical, intellectual, emotional, and ethical growth. The IB Diploma is awarded to students who meet rigorous subject requirements and achieve a minimum score of 24 points, with the highest possible score being 45 points.
Very many congratulations to the class of 2024!! Particular thanks to Mr. Andy Roberts, Ms. Kathryn Holland, and all the IBDP teachers for leading the Class of 2024 to this great outcome.
