Following direction from the Department of Education and Training, Renaissance will be closed to students for the week of February 10 – 16, 2020. Teachers will continue to report to school to support our student’s home learning.

In light of the novel coronavirus, Renaissance would like to assure you that as a school we are closely monitoring the situation and are working with the authorities to ensure that we take any preventative measures deemed necessary to protect the health and safety of our students. We ask parents to please continue checking emails for any further communications and updates that will be sent out as necessary.

You can find out more about the Coronavirus from the World Health Organisation (WHO) website, who share the following important information:

What is Coronavirus: Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found in both animals and humans. Some infect people and are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). A novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include:

  • Regular hand washing.
  • Covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
  • Thoroughly cooking meat and eggs.
  • Avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

Common signs of infection include: respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and it can in extreme cases be fatal.
